The Client Brief
The couple wanted something simple, warm, and atmospheric that would feel naturally at home in their venue. They asked for a sculptural element that added depth to the space without taking attention away from the tables, flowers, or the evening itself. The brief was to create something that felt calm and expressive, bringing a gentle sense of presence to the reception.
My Approach
I focused on creating a warm illuminated arrangement that shaped the mood of the room without overpowering the reception décor. Each mandala was designed with a soft layered structure that catches light in a gentle way, so the pieces feel calm in daylight and quietly expressive as the evening lighting deepens.
I tested different layouts to find the right sense of balance, making sure the installation supported the atmosphere the couple wanted rather than competing with it. The final arrangement works as a subtle feature that guides the eye and adds depth to the space.
The Installation
On the day, the mandalas were installed so they settled naturally into the flow of the reception layout. The placement allowed the pieces to frame the room with a warm ambient glow while keeping the tables and centrepieces as the main visual focus.
